Waiting in the airport for my flight to NYC. I’ll be there for 2 months: interning/experiencing. Excited to see my sister and bro in law + many great SAS friends. It’s much less fun to wait on transportation without somebody to giggle with. For instance, there is a guy with a yoshi t shirt on and strange sandals and red nail polish. He is also wearing a satchel. More to come but in the meantime email me: marybethyale@gmail.com

I bought white jeans.
I know. I KNOW.
But they’re not horrible, and as soon as I’ve gotten them hemmed, they’re going to look super cute with a blue top that I have.
I’ll keep you posted, but feel free to tell me if I’ve made a huge mistake..?
I bought white jeans for SAS. I thought I needed them-resort wear-but only wore them in South Africa, however I have big plans for them in NYC this sum hair. They rock but the downside is that they soil easily.
Last weekend, I needed a vacation from my vacation, and to do some housekeeping (literally-find an apt), so I went to Austin to see all my homiez. Luckily, I arrived on Cinco de Mayo, so the cultural exploration theme of the year was able to continue. Jordan and I went out to eat and got some margaritas, but we went as Gloria and Sylvia, respectively, so we could properly celebrate as wannabe Mexis. The next day, 5 guys from SAS and 1 of the guys bros came into town on 2 separate roadtrips. We got to hang which was great, but I was really sad to see them go. I’m looking forward to summer in New York (starting in June), which I’m sure has the potential for many more cultural calamities, starting with Julia and Seaver’s (sister and bro-in-law) “Pimm’s Party” which will showcase Pimm’s Cup (if udk what that is-google it, I had to). Styling for this begins now, I’m thinking something with the Union Jack, but it might involve my headdress, because why would I pass up a chance to wear my best souvenir???
The most recent port: Camp Yale. There isn’t a lot to do here other than run, tan, and read, since the daytime population is 3 (2 dogs+me). I’m slowly accepting the fact that it’s nice to relax and this will probably be one of the last times I can bum around on my parents couch and have it still be acceptable. In my free time away from my free time, I apply for every job under the sun. (notable positions: subway (free diet coke!), a gas station, movie theater, all restaurants in Little Elm). I really do miss all of my SAS friends and it’s weird to be able to text and call them but not have the chance to enjoy breakfast together. More pics of the trip to come soon. I’ve put about half on my fb. If we aren’t friends, feel free to add me, just send a message explaining your purpose.

Glitter Globe-not 100% true representation of ze world…
The whole entire time i was on the ship, there was only one movie i wanted to watch, but could not borrow from Edmund’s hard drive, or Lexi’s hard drive or even Melly G’s hard drive.
This cinematic masterpiece really summed up my feelings of the first long stretches on the ship: White Squall.
Along with the fact that nobody had it, nobody had seen it. I am not sure what my parents were trying to pull on my as a kid, but I have seen plenty of movies about weather-related disasters.
So it only makes sense that when i get back to America and I am on solid ground, White Squall happens to be on tv.
It is a pretty good movie from what I remember, so I am watching it again to refresh my memory. So far it’s about a ship called “Albatross” that sails halfway around the world. Sound familiar?
The difference: the entire ship is populated with young men (our ratio was 2 girls for every 1 guy) and it gets taken over by a White Squall. We only had a few bad days in the Indian Ocean and from Vietnam to Hong Kong.
